한국전쟁과 주한美軍
1950. 6. 25. 한국전쟁으로 이 땅에 주둔하게 된 주한美軍. 어느 덧 60여 년의 세월이 흘렀다.
이 땅의 자유수호를 위하여 공산주의에 맞서 치열한 전투 중에 전사한 수많은 젊은 美軍들.
행방불명이나 포로가 된 숫자도 상당히 많으며 여전히 생사불명인 美軍들도 많다.
전투가 벌어진 곳을 중심으로 유해발굴을 하고 있는 美 정부의 노력은 지금도 계속되고 있다.
산설고 낯선 이 땅에서 1~2년 여의 軍복무를 한 美軍들은 틈나는대로 카메라 앵글을 잡으며
그 시절의 우리의 산하며 풍물을 찍었다.
그들에게는 지나간 과거의 추억이지만 우리에게는 귀중한 역사의 한 章이다.
아래 포스팅은 미8군 예하의 제2 건설공병단에서 복무한 빌 스트리플링(Bill Stripling)이 찍은
사진으로 당시, 우리의 풍물과 김포 부근의 캠프 리치먼드에서의 美軍들의 일상을 엿볼 수 있다.
